Ik trap jaarlijks zo’n 10.000 kilometer weg op m’n racefiets. Allereerst omdat ik van fietsen houdt, maar ook omdat ik houd van de omgeving waar ik woon. Wijdsheid, ver kunnen kijken, rust, wind, platteland en frisse lucht. Normaal gesproken ben ik helemaal niet iemand die onderweg afstapt, maar af en toe stop ik wel eens om een plaatje te schieten. Hieronder drie recente voorbeelden daarvan.
Op de Aylvalaene net buiten Hilaard, kijkend richting Jelsum.
Burdineweg, tussen de Nieuwebildtdijk en Oudebildtdijk, vlak onder de Waddenzeedijk.
Armendijk, aan het het eind van de Oudebildtdijk, één van m’n favoriete plekken.

Een indrukwekkende mengeling van technologie en heavy metal: Compressorhead. Biografie van dit uit Berlijn afkomstige trio:
Stickboy (drums) was created to exacting specifications. 4 arms, 2 legs, 1 head, no brain. he plays a Pearl 14 piece kit with double kick. stickboy junior, the bastard child of an unknown mother takes control of the hihat shuffle. inception date 2007
Fingers (guitar) joined stickboy in 2009 and brings 78 purpose built fingers, enough to play the entire fret board and pluck.
Bones (bass) is the highest precision bass player in known existence, and the youngest member of the band. inception date 2012.

Op 47 plaatsen in de Colombiaanse hoofdstad Bogota is de parkbieb PPP (Paradero Para Libros Para Parques) te vinden. Met dit al tien jaar lopende programma wordt getracht de geletterdheid in de stad te bevorderen. De PPP’s worden 12 uur per week bemand door vrijwilligers. Naast het in- en uitchecken van boeken ondernemen zij ook leesactiviteiten. Naast de biebs in Bogota zijn er ook tientallen PPP’s elders in Colombiaanse stadsparken te vinden. Het programma krijgt landelijke ondersteuning.

Kijk, dit zou ik nu wel als een bidon willen meenemen op de racefiets. Een instant soundtrack van de rit, bestaand uit opgenomen omgevingsgeluiden.
Operation seems startlingly simple: to record a sound, you simply uncork the bottle and, so long as noise is detected, it’ll record and store the sounds as a sample. After capturing various samples, you simply uncork the bottle in a quiet environment and it will automatically generate a musical mashup.
Helaas heeft ontwikkelaar Jun Fujiwara (nog) geen voornemens zijn prijswinnende ontwerp in productie te brengen.
