Toen ik deze quote van Doris Lessing op Hugh’s Stuff las, was het wederom een bevestiging van dat waarover ik de bibliotheeksector nauwelijks hoor: de bibliotheek als vrijplaats van informatie. Veel te vaak gaat het over daarbij de kop opstekende juridische belemmeringen. Dit valt voor mij in de categorie: “Als jullie uitgevers het ons onmogelijk maken digitale content beschikbaar te maken, verhinderen jullie onze gebruikers de vrije toegang tot kennis. Hiermee kunnen wij niet volledig aan onze kerntaak voldoen. Daarom nemen wij het initiatief zelf. Sue us if you will.“
