Was ik niet geveld door de griep dan zou ik onderstaand filmpje vandaag hebben laten zien aan collega’s in Joure. Daar zou ik namelijk een verhaaltje komen vertellen over het provinciale Sociale media in de bibliotheek project dat afgelopen december afgerond werd. Het filmpje is een commercial van de Orange County Public Library.
Ik kan er niets aan doen, maar plaats alweer een Pogo-post. Bovenstaande video Joburg Jam is namelijk in de eerste plaats een fantastische remix van in Johannsburg geschoten materiaal, maar daarnaast voorbeeld van het Kickstarter-project Pogo Presents World Remix:
World-renowned sound remixer Nick “Pogo” Bertke is working on a new project — and he needs your help.
For “World Remix,” Pogo plans to travel the world Matt Harding-style, collecting sight and sounds as he goes, with the ultimate goal being “to compose and shoot a track and video for each major culture of the world.” The project will be funded entirely through pledges submitted via Kickstarter, and released worldwide on CD, DVD, and made available for download on PogoMix.net.
“I am deeply inspired by the films Baraka and Koyaanisqatsi,” Pogo says, “and hope to produce the best cinematography and music I humanely can throughout each project.”
The initial track, “Joburg Jam” — a remix of footage captured around the city of Johannesburg, South Africa — was released today.”

Isaak attendeerde me vanmiddag op het Human Library Project van de Toronto Public Library. Het idee is het ‘lenen’ van een persoon en hiermee een gesprek aan te gaan. Communicatiemanager Anne Marie Aikins stelt:
With the Human Library, it’s a one-on-one experience and that kind of storytelling, from person to person, does harken back to centuries and centuries ago when a story was the only way to learn. […] It’s an old technology.”
Het initiatief, dat begin november zo’n 200 bezoekers trok die uiteenlopende personen leenden, beantwoordt aan de groeiende behoefte aan persoonlijk contact. Daarbij speelt het internet overigens nog steeds een voorname rol:
In our feedback from the Human Library event, we found that a good portion of users heard about it from social media. In the least personal, most mediated way, they found a way to have a very personal experience.”

Open Culture besteedde hernieuwde aandacht aan de presentatie, omdat Dutton gisteren overleed.
Heel erg handig is de Typographic Calender van Harald Geisler niet, maar dat is ook niet het doel:
The Typographic Calendar makes finding dates and marking events a creative process. Every month is followed by a large backspace key, that helps scanning the grid for a specific date. The resulting, huge image (70x100cm) looks beautiful on the wall.”
