Leren door te maken is menselijker
Phil Shapiro schreef een prachtig pleidooi om maken een grotere rol binnen het onderwijs te geven. Onderstaande quotes geven wat mij betreft de essentie van zijn verhaal treffend weer:
Teachers who incorporate making into their teaching are not at all interested in what their students are not able to do. They focus on what their students are able to do. They look for hidden talents and help uncover those talents.

What might work better is if we made school the place where students really wanted to be. If we changed our teaching methods from sit down to stand up, from passive learning to active learning, we might see a rapid reduction in dropout rates.
