Comics in het publieke domein
Zoals ik al schreef in mijn eerdere post Cultuur is belangrijker dan auteursrecht ben ik geheel onbekend met de wereld van de comics. Dat mag echter allerminst een reden zijn een prijzenswaardig initiatief als het Digital Comic Museum ongemoeid te laten. Via het artikel Digital Comic Museum – free downloads of public domain Golden Age comics maakte ik kennis met deze site die als doelstelling heeft:

En ik moet zeggen, het werkt uitstekend. Na het aanmaken van een account kan je grasduinen in een ruim aanbod van strips uit het publieke domein. De exemplaren zijn beschikbaar gemaakt in een zipbestand en kunnen bijvoorbeeld op de iPad worden gelezen met de app Comic Book Pad. Dit laatste heb ik overigens niet zelf bedacht, maar werd genoemd in een post op BoingBoing, The joy of the Digital Comics Museum. Weer wat geleerd dus.
